Darrah chats with Elizabeth Azzuz, a citizen of the Yurok Tribe. Elizabeth is a board member of the Yurok Cultural Fire Management Council, a community organization that facilitates the practice of cultural burning on the Yurok Reservation and ancestral lands. On this episode of Determi-Nation, Darrah and Elizabeth discuss cultural burns, which lead to a healthier ecosystem for all plants and animals, long term fire protection for residents, and support the traditional hunting and gathering activities of Yurok.
